It is possible to avoid walking along the road at Stanwell Tops by taking some of the many fishermens’ tracks. Our website http://users.tpg.com.au/dccarter/mmm provides information, however it is always wise to get the latest information on the tracks from the ever-present local fishermen.

Thanks for our very first posting, Moz – this is the sort of contribution that will help improve the walk, so if anyone else knows of similar route improvements, please post them here.
Hi. Where Lady Musgrove Dr does a 45’bend right then left again just before Bald Hill there is a track that runs straight across the hillside on the ocean side of the hill avoiding the road altogether. Walking from Otford Lookout there us a path on the ocean side of the road behind the barrier and this other track runs off that.

Thanks Joanne – finally someone is using the forum as it was intended. I haad looke at Google Earth and wondered whether that was an option. It is great to have confirmation and I will make the appropriate changes on the next update of the map. PS one day Wollongong Council plan to put a route through the old abandoned Otford to Stanwell Park rail tunnel – that will make for an interesting variant.
A tunnel walk would be great! If its helpful I can email you a screen shot of the map with the track drawn on (done using my phone so a little rough but probably better than my fescription). Do you have an email address I can send to?
