    Hello,

    Two suggestions/thoughts for Sussex Inlet;

    1) Heading south out of Sussex Inlet rather than following Pacificana Drive walkers can instead turn left onto Alamein Road, follow this to the caravan park where the Alamein walking track follows the foreshore around the park and then up stairs and over the dune system alongside the inlet. There are some nice views along the inlet both ways from the top of the dunes and it’s lovely bush to walk through. At low tide the track can be continued on all the way around the headland, at high tide walkers need to turn off the track at what I think is the Haven Holiday Resort and follow a dirt road back up to Pacificana Drive to complete the route to the Lifesaving Club on the beach. There might be a further route for these walkers on firetrails through the bush to stay there but I didn’t explore that – something for another time perhaps.

    2) In relation to the crossing of Sussex Inlet and inlet access; Richard M: 0406961117 operates the boat hire place (Sussex Inlet Marine Centre) directly opposite Christian’s Minde. He will happily transport walkers across the inlet for approx $5 each (a single walker might need to offer a little more to make it worth his while or perhaps make sure you buy something from his little shop after!) but needs a little notice so if walkers can ring to check availability and pricing in advance it would be appreciated. I rang Christian’s Minde in advance of my arrival and spoke to Julie who gave me permission to walk through. When I arrived I noted on the gate that there is a request that anyone wishing to access the property ring first so I was happy I did. Richard at the boat hire place says that the people at Christian’s Minde have expressed displeasure about people accessing the property without permission in the past. Perhaps they could be approached about a permanent agreement (they might well benefit with walkers choosing to stay there) or… Richard did say that the neighbouring property’s owner was a lot more easy going and helpful and would be approachable so if Christian’s Minde didn’t come on board then Richard can provide this person’s contact as an alternative.
